IF im airbrushing and waiting for the paint to dry so i can airbrush again, how long can the paint sit on the airbrush while i apply multiple coats?

Depends on what type of paint you're using.  I've only airbrushed with acrylics and I start getting tip dry within a few minutes.  They have drying retarder's for acylics to help reduce this.

Run a little lacquer thinner thru the AB in between coats to help clean it.
