Question: Hose Adapter For Aztek? Currently Using Iwata.
Posted by DaveCS on Thursday, February 26, 2009 10:58 AM

Hi Folks,

I don't post here very often but I've been trying to determine if there's an adapter that I can purchase (and if so, what model/make/number) that will allow me to continue to use the hose I currently use with my Iwata Revolution CR on a new Aztek A470.

I'm looking at getting an Aztek for enamel work and keeping the Iwata for acrylics.

It looks like they use a different hose connector (i.e. the diameter of the Aztek hose connection is smaller than the Iwata) so I figure there may be an adapter available.

I currently am using a Silentaire Scorpion II  compressor.

Any help or input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Dave

You'll need this http://www.coastairbrush.com/proddetail.asp?prod=QDM and this- Iwata/Tamiya Universal Quick Disconnect Set. HTH.  Personally, I would get another Iwata or Badger for the enamel work.  IMHO, you'll be much happier in the long run.  Both companies make very nice detail oriented airbrushes.

Why not just use both hoses and get a manifold for your compressor.  They only cost about $12.00.  In essence, they allow you to hook up two (or more) airbrushes to one compressor.

Here's one Paasche (HFM-4-1/4): http://www.paascheairbrush.com/hardware.html

Jesse, the suggestion for a manifold is an excellent one. The Silentaire Scorpion 2 compressor is powerful enough to easily support 2 AB's. But the Paasche HFM-2-1/4 will be sufficient for 2 AB and he will not need the HFM-4-1/4, which is for 4 AB's.

My biggest question is how he can adjust to the Aztek after using the Iwata CR. I would get another CR which is cheaper and so much better than the Aztek 470.

Hey, don't knock the A470.  I use one too, the metal one.  Then again, I got mine for $66.00.  I wouldn't pay $250 for any airbrush.

Sign - Oops [#oops]  Dead [xx(]  I USED to have one too, but got ride of it. The wooden box is very nice for storage. It did not get much use.

The 470 was my AB in between the Paasche H and the Iwata HP-CS. After watching all those Brent Green video, I jumped when MicroMart offer the 470 wooden box special at $70. I like it less than my Paasche H. It is an inconvinience to have multiple nozzles. Not being able to take it apart to clean for fear of voiding the warranty was the nail on the coffin. I bought the Iwata and found the two AB are worlds apart in easy of use and refinement of control. The 470 went into storage for good.

MicroMart sent me a replacement because of some unrelated problem. I promptly sold it on Ebay and made a few dollars of profit.

It is good that you get the metallic version. There were some horror story about the plastic 470 and industry cleaner, which should never had been used the first place.

Thanks for the responses guys - I think, in the end, I'll just get another Iwata - I just wanted something a bit easier to deal with when it came to enamels. I've been sort of avoiding them because I don't want to mingle the acrylic equipment with the enamels only to end up screwing up my airbrush due to cleaning methods etc.

I know that may sound silly but hey, call me a goof :)

Thanks again,
Dave
