MM Metalizer Paint Question

I use them on occasion. I found out that you have to seal their metallics with their metalizer sealer. Otherwise, the metallic particles will lift with masking . The non buffing type can be buffed but tends to come out uneven. I don't recommend it. The buffing type sprays on with a "dusty" appearance but buffs into a convincing finish. I use a soft, clean cotton rag to buff with. I believe the actual Testors site has a tutorial on their use.

After using both types for a while, I like the buffing metalizers because you really do get a better looking finish. Also, I tried the Testor`s site and couldn`t find any info other than colors and prices but did manage to contact someone there and theysaid they`ll mail instructions to me.Thanks for your help Andy!

I prefer the Alclad metal finishes, but I've had some good luck with the Model Master stuff. I usually use old cotton T-Shirts or cotton Q-Tips for buffing.

 I've always polished with a sock (that sounds bad!). When you think you're done, polish some more. definately use their sealer. It can go on clear parts as well. You can also get different tones in color by priming individual panels, then "metalizing" before primer sets(when it's just dry to the touch)

this one has "primed" panels- leading edge, ailerons. Before I found sealer.

all I primed on this one is gunbay panels, panel under insignia, around exhausts, with sealer over all ancluding clear parts.

I have not tried masking after sealing, but have found you can use post-it notes without lifting any paint.

You have to seal MM metalizers with the Testors Sealer or Future. Otherwise the Metalizer will lift off with masking or even come off on your hands! Use gloves when handling un-sealed Metalizer finishes and you should be OK.

You can get some good results with it. But there are other, better products out there. 

Hey Fermis, I`ve been using an old pair of Fruit of the Looms so you`re fine! Nice work. Is that a Pro Modeler F-84? I did use there sealer and masked over it with Tamiya tape and had no lifting.I buffed the heck out of it,and it did start coming up but I think I either went too hard or didn`t put enough paint down because I buffed right through to the primer. My question, is there a specific type of plastic polish I could use? Or whatever kind  I should use on metalizers. I have Novus plastic polish that I buff canopies out with,do you think that might work? I`m working on a B-17 with a natural metal finish and after that I have a B-58 Hustler. Thanks for the help...Len
