I have just recently purchased a beginners airbrush from Badger with the aresol can.  Is this the best way to go as a beginner or do I need to purchase a seperate gun and compressor?  Any help would be very appreciated!

It is a Badger.  Just the gun and a hose and a paint jar.  It also came with a can of Badger propel.

In the long run, the aerosol cans are very expensive. It is ok if you use your airbrush only a few times a year. Did you get the Badger 250 or the 350 kit?

If you model regularly and want to build up your painting skill and tools, a dedicated airbrush and compressor will be a good investment.

If your budget is limited, try looking at house brand set from Airbrush-Depot, BearAir etc. You can get a beginner set for about $80-100 including shipping.

I hope that you are NOT getting the Paasche H set. I had the H for a long time and still have it. I finally upgrade to an Iwata HP-CS and felt that I should have done that for a long time ago. The Paasche H is an external mix single action airbrush which is difficult to clean and does not give you the type of control to build up your skill. But it is a rugged airbrush that can do most of the basic tasks of airbrushing.

The Peak C-5 combo at the same price will give you much better value.
