Sprays crooked!

Maybe one of you can suggest what is wrong with my Badger airbrush. The spray pattern doesn't come out straight. It's off to one side, the same place no matter how I turn the needle.  Is something damaged?

Did you check the tip of the needle to see if it has a barb or bend? Maybe the same for the hole that the needle goes through --I don't know the terminology-- make sure it is not damaged or clogged?

I'd have to say that something's wrong...it shouldn't spray off-center.

By indicating that the direction of spray doesn't change when you rotate the needle would suggest that the needle is not the problem...perhaps there is a machining error in the hole that the needle passes through? Even a minute burr would deflect paint in a uniform way that wouldn't be influenced by your needle's rotation. Other than that, I'm stumped....good luck

Cheers

Thanks. I don't see anything wrong with the needle. I could be the hole has been damaged. This is something that has developed suddenly. I will make some more investigations.

You didn't say what Badger model you had, but I had the same thing happen on my Badger 200 years ago. I spent a lot of time fiddling with the needle, even replaced it, then eventually figured out that the nozzle part of the spray head had an almost invisible split in it on one side of the tip. Probably from screwing the needle in too tight. I replaced the nozzle and all was well.

gregbale, that sounds reasonable. I'll check that out. Thanks.
