I just primed my P47 using Alclad's gray primer in preparation of painting it using their aluminum finish. I sprayed it at about 15-17 psi and had the brush about 2-3" away from the model. Now in some spots the primer went on perfectly, but I had a few spots, seemed to be in spots that I did a little sanding on beforehand, that the primer went on very gritty looking. It was kinda like a raised, powdery, fuzzy looking effect. Trying my best to desribe it
I have also seen this effect when I have used Tamiya's acrylics, again in spots like the wing roots, etc. that I have done some sanding on before painting.
What am I doing wrong in the preparation department?? I sanded this one down all the way to 1000 grit, looked good and then washed it before priming but still looked bad. Before I've just buffed the tamiya paints with a cotton cloth and seems to look ok, but this being a NMF I sanded the spots all down with 1000 and 2000 grit. I'm gonna give it another coat of primer and see what happens. But now I'm real nervous about applying the Aclad II aluminum, I thought things were going well.....
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
