Paasche D500 compressor????
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, December 27, 2003 3:59 PM
Ok I picked one of these up today for almost nothing...
I paid $35 for one in a Pawnshop after hearing it run, it came with the box but no directions. Looks brand new! I think I did ok even if it only lasts for a while, I however have heard these things run for ever.

Its a diaphram type compressor. Will I need a regulator on it or not? It cam with a inline hose moisture trap...

ThanksSmile [:)]

That is the compressor I started airbrushing with. Big Smile [:D]

They are alright but will get hot if ran very long.
A regulator would be nice if you wanted to spray at a lower pressure than what that D500 puts out, which I believe is around 20 psi or so.
Another thing is to find a small airtank to smooth out the airflow as those diaphragm compressors pulsate pretty badly.

Did you ever get that Sears compressor you had ordered?
Did you find a regulator/moisture trap for it?

Mike thanks for the reply.
Yeah Ive had the Sears compressor and have been using it but I cant use it inside at night when I have time to do my work. And I just happened to drop in this shop to see what they had, and there it was. Took it out the box and plugged it in and decided for the price I couldnt go wrong!

As far as an airtank for it....any ideas/suggestions? Thing sure does vibrate alot LOL....
Thanks

Chris,

Any small tank would work. Some people use an old fire extinguisher bottle for the airtank. If you could get the top off of it you could put a T-fitting in there and use it that way.
Since that compressor only puts out 20 psi or so it wouldn't be critical to have a tank that would be able to handle high pressure.
