I agree with plum1030.
It sounds like the needle is not getting seated into the tip and is allowing paint to pass by.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

Also, check for a damaged needle.

Not familiar with that one. If there are no mechanisms to hold the needle back I would definitely suggest a thorough cleaning of the nozzle assembly.

The airbrush is a Harder & Steenbeck "focus", if this helps.

What model brush is it? It sounds like it needs a good cleaning, maybe some dried paint is keeping the needle from making a proper seal. If this is the case you'll want to soak the nozzle pieces overnight and be sure to get it completely clean.

faulty airbrush?

I've been using a dual action airbrush for a while now, but its suddenly started acting strange. It now works like a single action airbrush, so both air and paint are operated by the same downwards motion on the lever. The paint sometimes comes out in large drops and builds up around the nozzle. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so how do you fix it?
