Difference between buff/non-buff metalizers

I am starting work on Hasegawa's F-104C. I was looking at the Model Master Metalizers and saw that there was an aluminum buff and an aluminum non-buff listed. What is the difference? I know that you buff the "buff" to shine it. Does the non-buff dry to a shine?
