Where has Future gone? Any substitute?
Posted by cml on Monday, February 15, 2010 5:42 PM

Howdy all,

Just wondering if there are any Aussies out there who know where we can get "Future", which is now known as "Pledge with Future" in the US and used to be sold here under the name "Pledge One-Go".

I bought a bottle about 2 years ago from Woolworths, but have been looking around for the past few months and can't find it anymore in Woolworths or Coles.

Has anybody seen this around?

If it's no longer available, what is a good substitute for it?  I use it for dipping canopies into for clarity.

Thanks, hope somebody out there can help.

Hey CML,

I;m sure I saw "One Go" in Coles or Woolliies here in Sydney not too long ago, possibly within the last week or two. I'll have a look again.

IMO Pledge One Go is great for dipping clear parts, but not so great as a clear coat on your models.

Hi Phil_H,

Hmm, I'll have another check.  I've been looking for the past few months (not every trip, just now and again) and haven't seen it - possibly it's not popular enough for all locations to stock?  Might have to look more.  Good to hear it should be still out there.

I agree with your comment too - great for canopies but i don't find it very good for clear coats.  Have tried it multiple times, but now use Gunze H30 clear.

Chris.

The same seems to be happening in the UK. Klear (UK name) was replaced recently on our supermarket shelves with an alternative which smells & looks nothing like Future. Guess I will have to figure an alternative.

May I ask the active ingredients future please?

I looked last time I was at the supermarket  and saw something that might of been same type of stuff, made by johnnson, cant remember the name of it off had. I figure if I active ingredients are same might be worth a try on a practice model.

Hi Andrew,

The two Johnson's products I usually see in the supermarkets are Pledge One Go (white bottle) and Pledge Wood Magic (clear yellow bottle) I haven't really looked at the Wood Magic but my understanding is that it's primarily a cleaner/conditioner for wood floors and not a sealer.

I believe I've seen One Go at Bunnings too, if  you can't find it at the supermarket.

If need be one modeler can help another modeler. Future is very easy to get over here in the states. I'm sure we (US Modelers) could work out something to get this great stuff to you if you can't find it.

If I remember correctly you can get Future re-bottled from Great Models and Sprue Brothers here in the states, they ship over seas.

Thanks for suggestions everyone.

Phil_H - i'm going to go on a Pledge-One-Go recon mission this weekend, Bunnings is a good suggestion, i recall they had a whole aisle dedicated to cleaning products.

Tyamada - thanks for letting me know about Sprue Brothers, if i get in a jam, i'll get online to get some.

Regards,

Chris.

Bought mine from E-bay, shipped from Canada to Adelaide. Cost me an arm and a leg, but it should last me a $#%@ load of time.

Just to update,

I looked in my local Coles today and they had plenty of "One Go". Not the same story at Woolies though.

Thanks Phil_H.

I'll drop into one on the weekend.  I'm a woolies shopper (used to work for them) - must be why i haven't seen it recently.

Thanks everyone for your help.
