What is future?
Posted by Scorpiomikey on Monday, March 8, 2010 2:22 AM

Hey guys, i hear alot of you talking about future, and my LHS guy referred to it a couple of times. What im wondering is what actually is it? I went out and bought some stuff i saw referred to on a website called klear, i was looking at it and its a floor wax is this the effectivly the same thing? or is future something completely different? it produces a good result on canopy's but appears to smear paint even if its been on there for a while. Just a little concerned ive wasted $9

According to Matt Swann's Complete Future, "Future is a water-soluble acrylic floor coating that was developed by S. C. Johnson Company in Racine, Wisconsin for linoleum flooring. In the Netherlands it is known as “Pronto Wax for wooden floors” with a brown cap or "Parket Plus". In the United Kingdom and New Zealand it is known as “Klear”, “Krystal Klear” or "Johnson's One and All".

I paid less than $2 for the bottle of 27 oz. Future 3 or 4 years back. J. C. Johnson changed the marketing name to ""Pledge" with Future Shine" and a corresponding price increase to $7-10 in store since 2007.

It's also getting harder to find in my area. Used to be most of the grocery stores carried it, but now the only place I can find it is at the local hardware stores (or online).

Manstein's revenge

...future is something we sometimes have no control over...

I have no intention of losing control of the FUTURE when I put it on my models.
