For modeler who is uncertain about keeping the airbrush, this is a good starter system:

Master Airbrush Model G22 Airbrushing System with AirBrush-Depot TC-60 Air Compressor w/Small Storage Tank

There are many similar system on the market that carter to people looking for an inexpensive system, but are not sure about whether they like airbrushing, but I would recommend stick with established vendors.

If you are certain about airbrushing, you can search for "compressor", "Iwata", "Badger" and "Harder Steenbeck" and study the many opinion here. I can recommend more specifically if you have a budget range.

I guess that depends on your definition of "best" to be honest.

You can spend $3000 on a compressor if you want but it isn't going to make you a better airbrush user.

The term "best" is subjective to a point as there are many high quality airbrushes and compressors on the market.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon
