Removing metalizer finish
Posted by jimbot58 on Sunday, March 28, 2010 1:20 AM

I sprayed a P-51D with Testors MM metalizers. The results were beautiful! However, you all know the issues with trying to mask with this finish as it always lifts off. What might safely remove it?  I just bought some Alclad (my LHS was closing it out! 25% off! Yippee!) and want to give that a shot.

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Leave the Metalizer in place and apply your other paint over it. Just give it a base coat with the primary color you intend on using. Or soak in Castrol Super Clean to remove the paint, that is what I use.
