Harshman II

 padakr:

 Harshman II:

Get METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK)...

It has the strongest stripping  power of any solvent but at the same time, it will not damage plastic.

Its even better than thinner.

I thought that was what the plastic solvent cement was made of, and that would definitely damage the plastic.

Tested and proven. I work in a lab.

So how is it different from the MEK in the standard plastic cement?  Is it a question of strength?  I've read other posts suggesting using MEK in different strengths as a less expensive alternative to brand name modeling "cement".

from what ive seen acrylic thinner, at least tamiya, doesnt attack plastic you could try that.  I might be wrong so dont quote me and try on a scrap piece of plastic first

Super Clean degreaser is the best I have found followed by Easy-Off oven cleaner in the yellow can.

This link tested some paint strippers: http://www.bonediggers.com/1-3/strip/strip.html

Simply Green works well for enamels. Do not know about acrylics. It may take longer than oven cleaner, but I am not afraid of getting it on my hands.

Either of the two I already mentioned work very well for acrylics.

Also have used Pollyscale EZ Lift-off (expensive) and ordinary brake fluid (cheaper). I used these on enamals but not sure what to use for acrylics....

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?
