Airbrush compressor

All good points to think of,thanx Don.

It seems that it might be a South African knock off as you say, but it is one of the most abundant brushes in all the shops.Hopefully spares will be OK for some time.

As you say also, it will take allot of trail and error to finaly get it sorted to how I want it to work,but I believe it will give much better results than my current setup.

To start a new thread, click where it says "to start a new post" at the top of the page.  You will get more answers that way.

All 3 needle/nozzle sizes are commonly used by modelers.  The .3mm will require more thinning though, and it will take more coats.  But some people like that.  A good airbrush with a .5mm nozzle will give you plenty of detail.  But any brush will take practice.

As for the Air-craft airbrush:  Google can't find it, so I suspect it is an inexpensive copy of a name brand brush.  You might want to consider a couple of things.  Will you be able to get spare parts in a couple of years?  What kind of support can you expect from the dealer or manufacturer?  If you have problems, will you be able to tell if it's you or the airbrush?  If you ask for help on the forums, will anybody know anything about your brush?

Hi All, in advance sorry for the hijack of this thread.I can not figure out how to start a new thread on my own (oops!)

I need to buy a better airbrush for my models soon, and had been looking at a make called "Air-craft" wich is a nice gravity feed double action brush. It comes with 3 needle sizes 0.3mm, 0,4mm and 0,5mm if I recall.

What size needle do you guys recomend for someone who works mainly with 1/48 airplanes?

I recon the finer the needle, the finer the "joint feather edge" will be for something like cammo, but I can imagine that it would take forever to lay down a base coat collour with such a fine brush?

I work only with enamel paints like Humbrol,Tamia and Testors.I have been using a "cheap" model pot-fed single action brush to date, but I find it is limiting me in what I need to do.

Any advice will be very welcome.

Thanks for the reply!  Im gonna try to find one today in town.  If I dont then I will order one online.

Badger lists an adapter in their accessories that fits a quarter inch pipe thread, a common compressor output. I found my Testors Aztek fit that adapter, which I had already set up for my Badger.

I found it! Tired after working......forgot to stand up before walking away if you know what I mean....a quick search and ...........

If you have a compressor available, I am sure you will be able to get some standard fittings/adaptors to suit your Testors air hose without much difficulty.
