future and painting

K, I have to ask. I've been seeing a ton of posts asking about how to use Future floor wax on their models. And I have to know, why? What does future offer that a product made for models (to do the same thing that future is being used for) can't do?

It' s inexpensive. Look at the price on the bottle. Calculate the price per gallon.

Now do the same for a typical coating product made for models.

Pick up your teeth from the floor.

Add to that, Future is, as a coating, superior by far to anything of that sort "made for models."

What is more, it will do things those products don't do well, if at all.

Okay, thank you. Big Smile   As I had mentioned, I had never heard of using this before I saw it mentioned here. Was just very curious. Thanks again!

the only downside (if you can call it that) is it only comes in high gloss, also ive noticed a couple threads of it discolouring whites where masking tape has been (one that springs to mind was one that went pink)

couldn't agree more; were it not for Klear I wouldn't be making models-I use it to set decals amongst many many other things. I'd never heard of such a thing when I was a kid in the 60's so didn't know they existed when I took up the hobby again 10 yrs ago. Trevor Snowden of Airfix told me about it and I haven't looked back since

There are multiple uses for Future, I use it gloss coating for decals and as an  paint sealer since I use acrylics. Its also fantastic for coating clear parts on models such as aircraft canopies or windshields/windows for car kits. It also acts as a barrier to prevent "fogging" on clear parts glued on with super glue or model glue.
