Iwata HP-CS dis-assembly hiccup
Posted by Wrinkledm on Sunday, June 20, 2010 12:52 PM

Hello,

Every once and a while when taking the Iwata apart to clean it the large brass cone (nozzle) gets stuck in place (inside the head cap) and with a little effort I can pop it lose.  Now it really seems stuck in place. Is there a safe way to remove the cone from the inside the nose of the brush?

Thanks  Dave

Hi Dave,

That's the "drop in" unthreaded nozzle/cone isn't it? Haven't got one myself, butI I would try a drop of lacquer thinner applied to the rim of the recess to see if that might help soften any dried paint which may be causing it to stick

Thanks...  I did forget to mention that I soaked the stupid think in lacquer thinner for about 10 minutes with no luck.  Maybe I'll give it another go.

You could try really hot water...the slight differences in the metals should make them expand enough to start budging.

very odd that LT didnt work. but then this is a brass cone and it may have some corrosion built up in between the two parts.

I just cleaned mine and used Media lube shot through it, a good drop is enough, just remember to clean it with LT or paint thinner again before you spray, but it really helps overall.
