Compressor Advise

I don't have either of these units, but looking at the specs, both in terms of maximum pressure and volume of air delivery, I think the output would be far too low for serious use.

The Tamiya unit has a throughput of 3 litres per minute at a maximum effective pressure of 0.07MPa (10.152 PSI)

The GSI Creos unit has a higher throughput, 3.8 litres per minute but at a lower maximum effective pressure of 0.045MPa (6.526  PSI)

If you are going to be doing a lot of airbrushing, I would look for another solution.

Before I'd consider something like those I'd ask myself, if they have problems who do I call for parts and service. I know that I can easily source parts for my Paashe compressor and most other airbrush brand units.

Those cutesy little colored compact units might be attractive in price, size but usually come with a tradeoff...performance, durability and serviceability.

Thats very insightful to a noob like me :D... this is my first airbrush set and I mainly use to to paint Gundam models :)....

if the pressure is not enough, what will happen? the paint wont stick?

No, the paint will stick, but it won't atomize properly and you'll have issues with spatters and grainy finish.

Where are you located, so we can supply advice that would apply to you?

I bought my Paasche D500SR compressor from Dixieart.com. It is a very fine little compressor, has a great psi range (20-40), and its fairly quite to boot. It has a small tank that i can get about a hour of painting out of before having to refill. It has worked well for me as a starter compressor. I have a Badger 100LG DA air brush as well. 

i don't know how much you are willing to spend, but go to airbrushdepot.com. they have their owne brand. i've got the tc-20t and i don't have any complants!!!! it has a 3 liter tank shuts off at 60psi and starts up again at around 35 to 40 psi. it also comes with a nice regulator/water trap so you can adjust the output to your needs!!

Actually I am from Malaysia... quite far away from the US :) I saw these while I am in tokyo.... and I will be back in Tokyo again in Mid july for couple of weeks... and they looked kinda cheap and small (2 attributes i like :P).... but after what you said about atomizing and grainy finish.. perhaps, I should look else where for alternatives.

The Eric & Van Models in Hong Kong carries the Sparmax compressors. The choice are limited, but the prices are excellent. Either one will work much better than those you chose earlier.
