Yeah, this is a good topic, as I'm part of that group build mac references above.

I'm thinking I'll paint the portion of the wings closest to the fuselage before assembly then match all the surfaces once assembly is done.  I'm doing a tri-color desert scheme for my Bone rather than the overall gunship gray or even the strategic camo scheme.

I did the B-1 in 1/72 a while ago in three colour camo. After looking at it for a while I decided to paint the inner section of the wing before closing the wings in, & then blended in when I did the overall paint job.

It worked out OK & I did it like this as opposed to the whole wing, as I figure that they would probably get marked at some point during assembly / closing up.

David,

I, along with a few other forum members, are building the Bone in the Variable Geometry group build.

I plan on painting the wings before I attach them to the main fuselage.  Then mask them off before I paint the rest of the plane of course.  Only because I plan on painting the strategic camo scheme.  If I was to paint the overall gunship gray I might attach the wings before I paint.

Hope this helps.  Good luck with your build.
