Best place to buy an airbrush
Posted by zokissima on Thursday, July 15, 2010 1:40 PM

Hi guys,

Just wondering where the best place to buy an airbrush online is. I've been looking at the Badger Patriot, and found it on eBay (from reputable sellers) for about $110USD, shipping included. Its usually shipping that is the killer when I purchase items and have them shipped to Canada.

What would your suggestions be?

Try Dixie Art, they have the 105 delivered to Canada for $82.50, not including duty and import taxes. That leaved you $27.50 to pay for those, which works out the same. Try emailing them and seeing if they have an idea of what the end price to you is, or if they can ship via the USPS to Canada. I have successfully avoided duty using the post office. Mind you it will take much longer to arrive!

The Peak you bought not satisfying?

So long folks!

Honestly, that peak I have is a fantastic airbrush. It is such a leap ahead of the Aztec I was using, I need something lesser. I think the Badger is probably a step down. Its for this reason I want it, as a backup. I am afraid that if something goes wrong with the Peak I'll be left without a replacement, and parts will be hard to come by.

Oh, also, now that you're here Smile do you think it is ok that instead of petroleum jelly I use vaseline to lubricate the needle? I've been religiously following the directions you gave me for the cleaning...

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the Peak. Dunno if the 105 will be a step down, or merely a lateral step, but having more than one airbrush does give one some insurance when things go awry.

That's why I have so many of the same series, my Badger 100LG, 150 and 200-20 all share air valves, head assemblies, and washers, and only the needles can't be shared between the 100/150 and 200. Actually, I could use the 200 needle in the 100, it would just stick out the back end. The 100 needle is too short to use in the 200.

I've never provided instructions that say to use petroleum jelly? Hmm I always recommend glycerin! Anyway, Vaseline is a brand name of petroleum jelly, so other brands should work fine. Though I don't think I would use it if I didn't clean and lube my needle each time as petroleum jelly can collect contaminants over time. But since PJ and Glycerin are interchangeable as (ahem) personal lubricants, they would be both effective for your airbrush. Stick out tongue
