Pactra Aero Gloss Thinner for Cleaning?
Posted by 68GT on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 6:06 PM

I found a quart can of Pactra 43-32 Thinner and was wondering if it would be ok to use the to clean the airbrush out after using Model Master enamels?  It bought this way back to thin their Aero Gloss hot fuel proof dope when I built a radio controlled plane.  Says it contains Methyl Isobutyl Ketone and Acetates and it also say that it is Photochemically Reactive.  Not sure what Photochemically Reactive means.

I know folks who do clean their airbrush with lacquer thinner after using enamels.  They swear by it. I'd think that dope thinner would work a lot like lacquer thinner- they are closely related. However, I seldom use anything other than dope thinner so can't give first hand experience.

Photo reactive means it reacts in sunlight.  Store only in metal cans or completely opaque bottles or it will go bad quickly.

I have always used lacquer thinner for cleaning enamel in the airbrush or spray guns with enamel.  I just happened to find this in my stuff and it's almost full.
