What is the real color of rlm 02
Posted by Khalee2 on Friday, September 3, 2010 6:53 AM

Vallejo has it as light grey green 71044  closest non rlm was sac bomber green, but I have also seen it as maybe neutral grey or even  dark ghost grey on pictures of others models here.

I have the academy 1/72 me109 E3/4  I have one painted up in the sumer of 39 commo but I also would like to do one in the summer 1940 scheem which says rlm71 dark green rlm02 grey green and  rlm65 light blue.

Should I just go with the Vallejo color and not worry if it's not the right shade of grey.

RLM 02 was normally used for interiours. Some one who knows better than me will be able to confirm it, but i am not certain if it was used as an external camo.

The RLM 02 i have, Xtracolour enamels, is a light grey green and matches the paint chart, so it sounds as if your Valejo is correct.

RLM02 is a light grey-green.  It was used mostly as an interior color but also used on the exterior during  1940.  Later in the war it was also frequently used as a mottle color.

Definitely a gray/green color, not neutral or dark gray.  And I was used for external camo early in the war.
