Revell Aqua Color Range

Can't comment on hand-brushing, but it does need to be thinned with water for air brushing, so should be the right consistency for hand-brushing.

 They are cheap enough to buy just one to get the feel of them, & the 'cubes' have a flip-top lid which can be used as a pallette.

Not surprisingly, since RoG are, erm... German, their colour range is especially good for BundesWehr colours, esp those '70's BW OliveGreen.

My four year old daughter has started modelling and I bought a Tamiya Dinosaur for her. I also purchased three bottles of Revell Aqua Colour. I found them difficult to apply as they had a tendancy to dry rapidly on the brush. Frequently, I had to wash the brush and start again. I think they may be better for airbrush use!!

Vallejo Model Color paints are simply the best hand-brushing acrylic paints I've used - period.

Thin with the proprietary thinner or distilled water. It's thick straight out of the bottle and works better when thinned. Do not attempt to use an alcohol based thinner - it will turn the paint into a sticky ball of goo.

Shake the paint till you can't shake any more and then do it again. (You can pop the dispenser nozzle off and stir the paint if you want to though)

Re-coating will not pull up the previous coat - you will need a primer though, as it doesn't like to stick that well to bare styrene.
