Mr. Color Thinner
Posted by jburns on Monday, October 11, 2010 11:13 AM

I am getting ready to build my 1/72 scale Hasegawa SU-27 Russian Knights model. I bought a bottle of Mr. Color Cayenne Blue to use with it. What thinner do i use? I don't know if this stuff is acrylic, enamel, or lacquer. I'm usually a Tamiya man and this has thrown me for loop. Thanks in advance for all of the help i've gotten in the past from all of the modelers on this forum. You guys have been a HUGE help on my model building. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!Cool

I believe Mr Color is not a regular acrylic & the thinner (probably Mr Thinner) IIRC is lacquer based. From memory, run of the mill acrylic thinners, weather proprietary like Tamiya X-20, alcohol, screenwash or water don't work With Mr Color.

Gunze is laquer based acrylic. Use laquer thinner for cleanup.. Also use good ventilation.. that stuff stinks!

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

Plenty of people have reported using it with Mr Color without issue, although it might be wise to do a little test shot first!
