One  of my brushes is an Iwata HP-CS.  Love it.  Shoots paint great and easy clean up (and I break mine down every time I use it).  The only suggestion I'd make it to stay away from the Ninja Jet compressor.  It isn't powerful enough to give you the air you need.  Go at least with a Silver Jet, but that is still on the low side.

For a compessor I'd suggest you go to a hardware retailer and see what they have.  You can usually pick up a very serviceable tank style compessor (totally eliminates pulsing) for a fraction of what you would pay for even a low end hobby compessor.  Only trade off is usually that the hardware store compressors are somewhat nosier than hobby compressors.  If noise isn't an issue for you, a hardware store compessor will give you a lot more bang for a lot less buck.  I have a Campbell-Hausfeld 2Ga. compressor that I picked up at a flea market for $45.00.  Shoots up to 65 P.S.I., no pulse.  Loud, but highly effective.

It looks like a Montreal reunion!!

I've never seen any Iwata airbrushes at Udisco, but that doesn't mean they don't have any.  They generally stick to Badger, but I'm not in the market for an airbrush, so I haven't really looked.

Try Omer Des Serres, the art supply shop.  The one near me sells Iwata airbrushes.  It also stocks compressors, but I don't know if they are Iwata.  I don't recall seeing the model you are looking for, but I wasn't looking for it specifically.  The downside is that Omer Des Serres is a bit pricey.

Zokissima is right about Customs raping and pillaging their way through your wallet if it ships via Fed-UPS. Most online retailers ship via a courier as opposed to the USPS. However, the price is still *usually* less than the retail price at a Canadian retailer.

Canadians get hosed at the check-out, and for no good reason these days. Our dollar is at or near par, and yet we still get pricing that is based on our currency being severely devalued against the US greenback. Even though I have to be prepared to pay duty at the door, I still buy a lot of stuff online.

So long folks!

Hey, I'm located in Montreal as well [:)}

Did you check out Udisco or any of the other hobby shops in MOntreal? There are a few nice ones.

As for buying online ,honestly, we get royally killed when it comes to duties and whatnot. if you can find a place to ship with USPS, I'd go that direction. If its fedex or UPS, get ready to pay. For that reason, I generally tend to try to buy local, or eBay.

The price fluctuates. Mine was sold brand-new from Amazon themselves. When shipping to a different state it's usually tax free (except for NY and a couple other ones). Over $25 is free shipping as well. I guess I got a really good deal. You Canadians get a really good deal with healthcare on the other hand :)

I bought my SmartJet Compressor and eclipse HP-CS on amazon for far less than retail price. ($208 and $93 respectively).

Vivian

But shipping cost and import tax may make it impractical for those in Canada.

How did you get the HP-CS for $93 at Amazon? I have never seen it so cheap there.

I've seen them in the magazine for a great deal so i think im going to buy one. is there any retailer that sells the Iwata Ninja airbrush and compresser set near montreal?

You can buy from the internet sites or visit their dealers near Montreal.

Iwata makes a cheap compressor called the Ninja Jet, but I have not heard of a Ninja airbrush. Is it new?
