Krlon clear primer?
Posted by Dan the Man on Thursday, November 11, 2010 2:37 PM

This on a 1/72 F4F academy.

I have a can of krylon clear primer I bought some time ago.  I've shaken the can well, cut a straw to fit the nozzle, inserted straw into glass container and then sprayed into container while covered with cellophane.    I then stirred primer carefully in jar, put a lid on and came back to it a day or two later, stirred some more, poured into paint cup for airbrushing and blew on plane very lightly and allowed to dry overnight.

I then took some shaved/sanded black pastel and a artists blending tool to preshade panels directly onto primer. I brushed off excess pastel dust  with a dry paint brush.  I sprayed an acrylic mixture of gray and white for the underbelly .  After a night of curing I went back over it with a little lighter shade of gray/white mixture.  After another night of curing I sprayed (from a can) matte finish to prepare for masking.  Last night I went to mask and the underbelly paint seems to be cracking, and/or dried in a crackle/eggshell type finish.  any comments on how to prevent this from happening again? (This is my first time pre-shading with primer and pastel.)
