I am trying to find valejo paints to paint my figures faces, but it seems they dont exist in Canada. Do they sell in Canada, if so where? and could anyone suggest paints for face painting?

Many prefer oils as the drying time is the longest out of all suitable paints making blending easier.

I use a primer coat of Red Oxide primer followed by a mix of Testor's enamel flesh. red & dark brown. Then my rule is enamels for highlights, acrylics for shadows and pencil crayons for details. Some mixing occurs with the enamels but be cautious of this as thinned enamel is tricky.

A store in Mississauga seems to have them.  Northstar Military Hobbies.

Flat red, Dark brown and Flesh. NEVER use straight flesh and use it as a base to tint with either red, brown or both.

Skin is semi transparent and shows the blood color underneath. Soldiers become flushed faced under stress & exertion. The sun, wind and elements all wear on their facial appearances. One good example of this is soldiers shirtless working around pontoon bridges. They almost look like they are wearing white long sleeve shirts as their hands & faces are so dark and weathered.

Shadows are done easy with the same colors in a darker acrylic wash.

Expect colors to change if sprayed with Dullcoat, if so add a bit more color and the skin, shine can be added with oil from your forehead, wipe it with a brush and apply. This is also effective for leather gear.

I like to use pencil crayons for face detail like eye boughs, mustaches and lips. A white wax crayon is effective for eyes as it can be trimmed down to size with a toothpick.

I have a picture to support this yet I need to roll off to work now.

Hi,

Are you located in Montreal? I am currently there myself, and pretty much every hobby shop I've been to carries the Vallejo line...

You can check out Udisco, its a huge model warehouse.

There is Hobby Jonction Express, which is very nice.

If you go to Toronto, practically every single hobby shop has their range. NorthStar Military Hobbies carries their entire range, and you can order online if you wish: www.militaryhobbies.com

Hornet Hobbies in North York also has a great selection, and carries the full range (although they are short somewhat now), in addition to the entire Model Air selection as well, the Panzer aces and other 'specialty' ranges are there too.

Really? i checked UDISCO's online catalogue and it had nothing related to vallejo. Where are they located? The paint section?

Maybe I'm mistaken about Udisco, and meant Hobby Jonction.

Those are the two I've been to, plus another small one which I really can't recall the name of. If I were you, I'd just order online from Militaryhobbies, they really are great.
