Go out and paint some acrylic on your car and see if it does anything. I won't stick. MOJO w/an F
What answer?
I think all the chemists ran off after one of the more recent fluff ups.
It don't answer your question perfectly because I'm not capable of adding the chemistry but acryls over enamels is fine. Acrylic carriers aren't volatile enough to attack the cured enamels.
No, seriously.
I had heard from a friend who had been told by a mate who had over heard a guy in a pub who had read an article in a magazine by a guy who had read somthing online by a guy who had heard from a friend that he isn't sure one way or the other

Gerald, I'm over here trying to get my drill bit question answered, and I'm afraid you may be scaring people off. I really have been looking around on the internet, so please someone help me out and I won't ask too many more silly questions. Thanks Rick.
...true....by the way, how do you get one of those "2010 FSM Great Modeling Edition" issues?
DoogsATX Burning magnesium on your model will ruin the finish.
Burning magnesium on your model will ruin the finish.
Bugger, there goes that idea for weathering
Even if you did and posted said response...it will be asked and asked again because one of the primary functions of a newbie is to ask questions before even looking for the answer. Instant gratification has found its way into the scale modeling forums...ask and let someone else answer the questions before you look.

I remember two things from high school chemistry.
The permeable membrane and burning magnesium.

Manny's gonna put us both in a firing line unless we produce a chemist. (I think my ill-advised year of Chem Tech before switching to graphics doesn't count for anything anymore...)
Well, once I tried this...
...no...
Will someone (who knows for sure what they are talking about) PLEASE let everyone know if painting acrylics over enamels or vice-versa can be done w/o ruining the finish? This has got to be one of the most asked, and most poorly answered, questions that consistantly pops up in the Forum...
If you response starts with: "Well I once tried this, and so and so happened..." don't even bother answering. I want to know from a scientific standpoint, not an anecdotally based standpoint...
