Primers

Sorry, what i ment about not available, is that the Tamiya fine surface primer, is currently banned. Thats what my local hobby shops have told me, something about high led levels.

What i have been looking at is the Mr. Surfacer 1200, is this at all similar to Tamiya's primers?

I guess im not determined to use a rattle can, but I dont yet have a compressor, may have one in the coming monthes, but right now i use the air cans. Surprisingly enough, i get pretty good results with the air cans, but they are costly so thats why i would like to stick with rattle can. And im sorry, but are gunzes products not available in the US anymore?

Define 'available'.  If you mean, walk into a B&M store and get it off the shelf, there's probably only a handful of places in the US where that can happen.  Smaller specialty hobby shops... you're certainly not going to find Gunze on the shelf at Hobby Lobby.  There's a wonderful, ancient shop in Dallas (MAL Hobby, or Model Aircraft Laboratory) that carries the old Floquil line, a ton of Humbrol, and a large selection of Vallejo (both color and Air), but they only keep the three Surfacers in stock... none of the paint.

If you mean order it and have it show up on your doorstep in a few days, there are a ton of options.  I've just gotten started on Mr Color and Allclad, and the best sources I've found for them is Sprue Brothers and Hobbywave.  I love browsing Sprue Brothers site, and I've bought a ton of stuff from them, but they're a little higher than most and they also have serious issues with keeping some stuff in stock.  It's a real downer when you're happily clicking along, adding stuff to your cart, when you find a critical color or that Mr Surfacer you need to prime the lacquer with are out of stock, and that happens way more than it should.

I've pretty much switched my Gunze purchasing over entirely to Hobbywave.  They've had EVERYTHING in stock, and a tiny bit less than SB.  They have a flat shipping cost that can make purchasing just one or two bottle of paint way over expensive, but if you're loading up on 10 or more colors plus other goodies it actually comes out cheaper.

I like Tamiya's Grey Surface Primer in the rattle can.  I've never had a problem with it.  Sometimes I spray from the can, sometimes I decant.

First, wash your parts in warm water with dishwashing soap, while still on the sprues.  Let sit an hour, then rinse.  You should not need a primer.  But if you do want to use one, I am very pleased with Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Surfacer 1200 in the rattle can.  I usually have to order it from Sprue Brothers or Squadron.

What paint are you useing. I use both enamel and acrylics on plastic resin and metal and have never used a primer.

Are you bound and determined to stick with rattlecans? Personally, I don't feel like I have any control with them, so I've taken to airbrushing everything - primers, clear coats, all of it.

I've had pretty good results with Gunze Mr. Surfacer. Goes on a touch rough, but a quick wet sanding with fine grit paper will yield a baby smooth surface.

And lately I'm falling back in love with good old Model Master gray primer. 

Sorry, that doesn't really help. When the paint is peeling up with ease without a primer, i think you need a primer.

Simple solution. Don't use a primer.
