HUMBROL AND REVELL PAINTS?

FSM is an American magazine, and Testors is probably the most widely-used line of model paints in the U.S., which probably explains why it is referenced so often by builders in FSM.  Also, both Revell and Humbrol paints are now manufactured in China and both lines are having occasional quality-control problems with both formulation and colour consistency, so some modelers have moved away from them.

Also, as far as I know Revell paints aren't sold in the states. I wish they were, I'd like to give them a try.

oh, because i only use revell and humbrol and i didnt have any problem with them. thats why am asking for the paints. why u dont order them from internet. here in my country we dont have hobby shop like those in US. so i only order from internet.

Availability is the main thing. Revell paints can not be found anywhere around here in Southern California Hobby Shops. The few tins I have came from my trips to Europe. Humbrol on the other hand are fairly easy to come by, but I suspect many US modelers are put off by the tins, more than any other reason. I have not yet had any quality control issues myself and I prefer Humbrol's quality over that of Model Master any day. Especially for handbrushing. Unfortunately their line is smaller and they have discontinued many colors which were quite useful.

i dont have problems with colors because i use both revell and humbrol on my kits. i only handbrush at the moment and am very satisfy with those. try ordering them from internet because are very good.

Back as a kid and young adult I only used humbrol and revell, smell wasnt an issue really and they brush paint well. Now I mainly use tamiya and gunze sangyo, they smell less when airbrushing, tins suck when pouring into the airbrush and the can be a pain to seal at times.

I too only brush by hand (tried and didn't like AB).

Never used Revell paints but I found Humbrol to be the best paint (for hand brushing). I stopped using it due to the smell and cleanup and now I use MM acrylic which is almost as good but a lot easier to clean up and very little order (Tamiya being worthless as the previous layer always strips away). Also note that all my Humbrol paint predates the switch to China.
