Stripping Tamiya TS paints

Are TS paints lacquer by any chance?

If so, that may account for them being very hard to remove. Lacquer paints have a very strong solvent in them so they dissolve the surface of the plastic and etch into it.

I've never used Tamiya TS paints so this is second hand information. On an automotive board that I frequent a lot of people use these paints and how to strip them is a fairly common question. Super Clean and Purple Power work on a lot of paints but may not work with Tamiya TS. What seems to give the best results with these paints is 91% or higher iso alcohol. I've used alcohol for other paints that CSC wouldn't touch. Pretty sure it was Duplicolor. Another thing that may work is Easy Lift Off or ELO from Testors/Pollyscale. Alcohol is cheap and you'll need to soak it. ELO is more expensive and you just brush it on like paint and let set.

Like I said, second hand info but I've seen alcohol recommended a lot.
