Paint Stripping

Oven Cleaner and Purple Pond will work if submerged over night 

do not mix the two. Just use one or the other at a time 

I use ELO (Easy Lift Off), Testors puts it out and it comes in an 8oz. can.  You can normally find it on eBay or at some local hobby shops.  It's quick and very safe for the plastic.  Whatever you do, do not use thinner...  I learned that lesson years ago.  It will soften and eat the plastic after a while.

Yes ELO is the way to go. Very easy to use and quick.

Why would he be worried about plastic, if he clearly stated that he is stripping paint off a die-cast model car. To my experience, I've never seen one that isn't made out of metal.

I've had great success with Easy-Off oven cleaner, as mentioned, if left overnight to soak.

ELO is safer than fooling around with caustic soda and quicker.

If you can't find ELO at your LHS, go to www.micromark.com.  They have it.  My can has lasted me several years.
