Quick Update - I finally got my filter assembly back on using MacGyver-like ingenuity. Once that was done, I took everything apart and re-teflon-taped it. She doesn't leak anymore.

Now I have to build a spray booth so I can actually try this airbrushing-thing out. Surprise

Wonderful!! Nothing sweeter than fixing your own tools. Hat off to you. Toast

The part she broke was the both that holds the Air Filter and connects it to the motor. I can't find a replacement anywhere. Crying

In my defense, it was in the middle of the floor in the basement by my work bench. And, yes, I did consider her insidious ulterior motives. Black Eye

I use a reasonably quiet Paasche DA400 for airbrushing in the basement workbench.

I keep my Sears 1-HP oil lubricated tools compresssor in the garage and bring it inside only when repair/remodeling work requires it. The Sears compressor is a bit less noisy than most low cost oilless compressors, but I still found it too intrusive in enclosed quarters.

I am on her side. Cool

I actually have a 1.5 gallon compressor that goes up to 180 PSI that I could probably work with. The only problem is that I can't get any replacement parts for it as the manufacturer went out of business. Not a big deal but my wife thoughtlessly broke off the air filter when I left the compressor out in the middle of the floor and she was carrying my laundry to the machine. If I could replace the piece she broke I could use this one.

Griffin,

Did you consider the possibility that your lovely wife is sending you a signal that such noisy machine has no place in the living area of a home?

Other than that, Canadian Tire has a 2 gallon one that goes to 125 psi that goes on sale for $50.00 from time to time.

What about the Hobbico R4051 for $130?

This is the CP101A Mini Air Compressor with Regulator from Model Maker.

see the old Passche 200R and compare with Hobbico.

I do not consider compressor without auto-on-off acceptable in today's market,

I wore out a D500 in a couple of years. Disposable compressor, methinks.

Paasche D500 Air Compressor
Posted by Griffin on Friday, January 14, 2011 2:19 PM

I'm looking for a new air compressor. I only have a big one that delivers 30-180 psi (a little much maybe). My LHS has a Paashe D500 w. R75 Regulator for $140.00.

This is a Paasche D500 Compressor w/R75 Regulator.  This 1/8HP Compressor is economical and suitable for all airbrushes spraying properly thinned fluids. It is capable of delivering 20 - 40 P.S.I. operating pressure depending on airbrush being used. The Paasche D500SR is an oil-less piston unit and comes with the R-75 Regulator/Filter with gauge.

It operates on 110-120 Volt, 1 phase, 60Hz, and delivers .4 C.F.M. @ 20 P.S.I. R75 Regulator will regulate up to 40 P.S.I. depending on usage (intermittent or constant) and size of airbrush being used.

Is this any good?
