Hello;
This is probably a nobrainer but I have a Mettallic Blue that I would like to lighten abit. Will adding white to it afect the mettallic look?

Howdy!
Question is, what kind of paint are we talking about here? Enamel, acrylic, what make etc.? My experience with Humbrols is that you can vary the color by mixing with good results. Don't know other types of paints. Good luck with your project and have a nice day

I am using Model Master Enamel Paints. The Artic Blue Metallic I want to use for the wheel wells and flap inside is a bit to dark of a blue so I thought adding some white. I just dont want to waste the paint so I am asking first for input from the comunity.
Thanks

I don't think so, unless possibly if you added a lot of white but then that's not your intent here. I would make sure it's a gloss white not flat though. Try a mix on a piece of scrap and see how it turns out.
Mix it with silver or aluminium perhaps? That might affect the metallic sheen less than mixing it with white.
Model Master enamels seem to take well to bending the colors around. I have even added aluminum to increase metallic effect on the little square bottled Testors enamel. I think if you don't add too much white you would not decrease metallic effect to much. If you do, you can always add some more aluminum or silver.
Testors enamel "Steel" color is very forgiving of fudging. I have even added flat black to darken and reduce the metallic effect. I have also mixed Steel and Metallic black in various combinations.
