To remove the residue try a product called Goo Gone. After airbrushing the canopy and after all painting is complete, including final clear caots remove the Bare metal foil. Moisten a Q-tip with a small amount of Goo Gone and gently wipe off the residue. Goo Gone will not remove the underlying paint or Future treated canopy glass, in fact it will deepen the shine. No more residue, just a crisp clear canopy! happy modeling!Big Smile [:D]

PS; You can find Goo Gone "Citris" at your local home stores or supermarkets in the cleaning supplies isles.
Bare Metal Foil and Goo Gone was used for my 1/72nd scale Italeri F/A-18A in the photo.

Need canopy frame painting help

Help! I tried masking a 1/48 Hellcat canopy with bare-metal foil, and it left a residue, which I was able to remove with Polly S Easy Lift Off. The frames are scratched a little, so I will try Future. Any recommendations on a better masking material? I've heard of a Tamiya tape and 20-mil tape, but haven't tried either.

Thanks!
