Posted by craigenglish on Thursday, April 7, 2011 2:08 PM

Hi guys new to the modeling scene and now take it seriously enought that im going to buy an airbrush. At the moment tho i have a large collection of revell paints which have served me well so far i was just wondering tho if they're any good for airbrushing as i havnt seen many posts about them on here.

Cheers.

is it the revell color in those little blue aluminum cans like humbrol? i can't give you an accurate review on how it shoots but im sure it will shoot fine as long as it's thinned properly. i shoot tamiya acrylics thinned with tamiya X-20 or Gunze thinners with no problems. i also use model master.

tamiya 1/48 P-47D $25 + shipping

tamiya 1/48 mosquito $20+ shipping

hobby boss 1/48 F-105G. wings and fuselage cut from sprue. $40+ shipping.

I have used Revell paints in my airbrush. I thinned them with Testors MM Airbrush thinner and had no problems at all.

Caution, Revell paints available in 2 ranges:

Enamels in metal tins, treat like humbrol, as above, white spirits or enamel thinner.

Acrylics in square 'flip-tops', treat as acrylics, thin with distilled water.

((EDIT: I'm sure craig knows this already, but pointing out to noobs that you need to use the appropriate thinner/cleaner for each type of paint. Wink))

I like their Bundeswehr colours, very '70's-'80's BW Smile
