Anyone here have a Master G44 set, and if so whats your opionion

I've been looking at the Master G44 set to round out my airbrushing collection.

Does anyone use this and what do you think of it?

May I ask what other airbrushes you have in your collection? Just curious.

The Master G-44, for all practical purpose, is the same as the Fengda BD-180. You can find one of the many discussion here. It is an Iwata HP-CH "look-alike" or "knock-off" and nothing else. It is a fine airbrush until you try an Iwata or a H&S. If you are on a limited budget, it is an acceptably capable, temporary substitute.

My first serious Aribrush was a Badger 175 Cresendo,  still works well but is a little to heavy handed for me nowadays..

I've been using a Badger 360 universal for years now.  love it its a great airbrush for modeling but the small color cup for gravity feed option is terrible and i've been getting more and more into the gravity feed over the siphion feed.  ...

recently got one of the Renegade Velocity's and was pretty much blown away by it.  Great airbrush, but I have painted one aircraft with it and I realize I could use something with a slightly wider spray pattern.   I'm also considering ordering the rage needle/nozzle setups for my Velocity and try that out.

 Now I'm just wanting something different to play around with thats different from my badgers.. and everything i've read on the G44 says its a pretty good medium quaility copy of the Iwata airbrushs..

anyways I got a deal on it so I ordered it

I think you're going to find the G44 has a pretty narrow spray pattern with its .2mm tip.  I have the Rage, and it has a pattern similar to the Patriot, and probably more like what you are looking for.  Would you let us know what you think of the G44?

It's a copy of the Iwata Custom Micron C+. While it works OK, it doesn't perform as good as the original, much because of sloppy tolerances.

How it different from the Iwata or H&S is the tight tolerance in manufacturing. The G-44 just will not give you the feel of precision control. You will be happy with it as long as you stay away from the real Iwata or H&S. Let us know how you like it and how it compares with your other airbrushes.

honestly, save the cash and get a genuine iwata product. if you really want something for fine line thats a good price go to hobby lobby and use their 40% off coupon on a iwata neo.

I'm getting this one for a hopefully versitable low cost airbrush fit in between my Badger  Velocity and Badger 360 and I wanted to try a different style airbrush from my badgers.

I'm looking at it as something with very good atomization and good basic  coverage, I will prob be looking at using the .3 needle the most.

The Badger Velocity and 360 are very different airbrushes. What type of difference are you looking for from your Badgers?

I suspect that you will find the Fengda made G-44 to be closer to the Badger Velocity than the legacy Badgers (175, 360). The G-44 has linear flow angle and nozzle size very close to that of the Velocity and was designed to be a clone of the fine line airbrushes.

It is always an adjustment to switch from the legacy Badgers to fine line airbrushes, including the Velocity. Most Badgers has a very "quick draw" type trigger due to the large nozzle (typically 0.7 to 1 mm) and short taper double cone needle. On the other hand, the Badger Velocity and most Iwata or H&R use very small linear flow angle needles which force you to thin the paint more and paint in multiple layer misty spray.

The closest thing to an in-between airbrush is the Badger Patriot with the fine needle 105F. The 0.5 mm nozzle and an 8 degrees linear flow angle put it in the middle between the Badger 360 universal and the Velocity. The Patriot keeps most of the Badger quick draw type trigger and is quite tolerant of paint thinning. It is lighter than most other gravity feed and the self centered nozzle is easy to clean. But it is not a fine line airbrush despite the name 105Fine.

It arrived tonight I got the Master G444 set which comes with all 3 needle sizes, .2, .3, and .5

I didn't have time to play with it a lot but I did manage to get in a little work with it.

It sprays nicely and the trigger does feel different from my badgers,  it also seems to me to be a more complicated airbrush, and took a little more time for cleaning than the badgers.   I didn't work with the mac valve that will be for when I have some extra time.

I used the .2 mm needle (which was already in the airbrush) and sprayed some floquil weathered black through it, shortly after it was delivered.

 I just did a basic base coat.  I did thin the paint as much as I would for my Velocity, and it sprayed well,  I just did a quick shot to see how the G44 worked out of the box and I am not disappointed.

It sprayed evenly, consistantly and  with no spitting, or pulsing.

another quick test using semi-gloss black enamel,  I think I may have thinned to much but it came out ok.
