I actually had luck finding Mr. Surfacer at a local contest/swapmeet.  I don't know if there is one planned near you in the near future but you might try there if there is one.  I was able to find it at the middle tennessee hobbies booth while online they said that they were sold out.

Peace through superior firepower.

I just placed an order for Mr. Surfacer 1000 online from HobbyWave (hobbywave.com). They said it was in stock.  Hope they're right.

mitsdude
I'm surprised no one has copied this product or produced something very similar.

Or maybe they have and I'm not aware of it.

Tamiya has a very similar product "Liquid Surface Primer" in 40ml jars. It dries a little softer though, and comes in grey and white. With the recent difficulty in obtaining Tamiya's finishing  products, it may well be just as difficult to get hold of as Mr Surfacer...

Try giving Hill Country Hobby in San Antonio a call. They had some bottles in stock when I was down there a few weeks ago and may be willing to ship.

 AceHawkDriver:

try www.luckymodel.com  right now they show that they have the jar of mr. surfacer 500 and it's in stock.

Given Mr Surfacer is a flammable liquid it cannot be mailed. The day will come when those vendors shipping these items illegally will feel the wrath of the postal inspectors in the destination countries. All it takes is one little tiny weeny accident or a package being damaged and its contents exposed.

Globally the postal services are tightening their regulations to be cohesive with each other to be safer.

true. this makes getting the product a lot harder and takes longer due to shipping yards and customs. Sprue Brothers did a great job of bagging my gunze thinner and tamiya paints. if the bottles ever leaked they would have stayed in the bag. very thick bags.

Thanks for the replies.  I was looking for the bottles, but Sprue Brother's was out of stock as was Squadron.  Perhaps I will try the spray can if I can not find it elsewhere.

There is no shortage in its production. The US importer only imports it twice a year from what I understand and apparently they don't import enough when they do. Sprue Brothers orders as much as they can get when it is available from the US Distributor.

Iam sure the recent disasters in Japan have caused a shortage of Mr. Surfacer.  Can anyone suggest a suitable substitute or supplier?  Regards.
