Why isn't the paint adhering?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 25, 2004 6:23 PM
I'm very old (I remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan) and very recently have
gotten back into modeling. I've been playing around painting 1/35 scale figures
and have been using MODEL MASTER paints exclusively. Some of the paints
brush on very well and have a "rich" look, but others (like signalbraun) come out of the bottle thin and are very difficult to apply, taking many coats
to make an impression, and in the end look washed out. Is this just a characteristic of the particular paint , is the paint too old, or is my technique
off?Sad [:(]

Hi donrenner, I may be older than you since I just qualified for Medicare. Anyway, your prolem isn't adhesion (paint falls off) but coverage. Really need a little more info, like are you using acrylics or enamels? ModelMaster acrylics are formulated more for airbrushing and some colors are very difficult to apply by brush. For any paint in a bottle, make sure you have stirred it well before use. The pigments tend to settle out over time on the shelf and a shake won't cut it. Sorry I can't help you more.
