My 2 cents worth is I always use the manufacturers thinner for their products. MM Acryl thinner works great for their line. Tamiya X20A  thinner works for their line. For me, the extra price is worth it to not have the problem you described.

Wingman, I used "MM Acryl Thinner" and it didn't work. Or was it the alcohol I first tried that messed it up?

Don't use alcohol with MM Acryll. It's water based.

What is IPA?

That being asked, one issue frequently encountered with Acrylics is what works with one brand, does not always work with another brand. I think there are too many acrylic paint formulas out there to make a true "universal" cleaner or thinner possible save for certain chemicals such as lacquer thinner, acetone, etc.

MM Acryl Airbrush Cleaner (looks the same but labeled differently) works pretty good for its stated purpose I have found. Their thinner is just that, a  thinner. It has no real cleaning properties or effects.

The best cleaner for your airbrush is lacquer thinner......works for everything.

I have no problems when I use the Acryl thinner.  I also use Windex and that works fine to clean up after using MM Acryl Flat also.

MM Acryl thinning/cleaning issues

I am confused - I recently used MM Acryl Flat Clear on the Bf109E I completed over the weekend and love the stuff - it transformed the model's surface into something really nice. I sprayed the stuff neat and then I put a little IPA in the color cup to clean - which didn't work since it seemed to be incompatible - why?. But I then squirted some MM Acryl Universal Thinner into the color cup to clean out the mess, but it remained a ball of gunk. It took me 5 minutes and a complete strip down to get it cleaned out. Any ideas? Would it have worked if I only used the thinner?
