recomend a new airbrush

I'm a die-hard Paasche user. I've had my single action H model for 30 years. I also have a double action VL. I've never had an issue and I use acrylics exclusively as well.

Not sure why you are getting so much overspray though.....  is the tip damaged?

I would stick with a Badger brand, like a 105 Patriot or the new Renegade Krome. They have great customer service and a lifetime warrenty.

Badger 100LG works good for me and fits two of your requirements, ie: gravity fed and under $100.

How much overspray are you getting?

Can anyone suggest a good airbrush for fine detail and camo work that has very little overspray. I am using a Harder and Steenbeck Ultra with a .2mm needle set but still cannot get away fron bothersome overspray regardless of paint viscosity or pressure. I was looking to spend in the $100.00 range and wanted a gravity feed brush. I use acrylics only.

Have you thought about changing the angle of your spray?  Instead of spraying at 90 degress, spray at a 70 degress angle.   Since you're using a .2 mm needle, you'll not get that much of a modulation difference in the paint laid down.   I generally do this when drawing out a camoflauge outline.    Then I spray at a 90 degree to fill it.

However you have a very nice A/B now and I don't know if buying a new one will solve your problem. Maybe try lowering your pressure or chaning up the paint thinner ratio a little. It's your money but I would experiment a little more to see if I could get it to work.

lowering the pressure should do the job. try not to thin as much as it will make it run.

It will be hard to find an airbrush under $100 that may have less overspray than the Ultra with 0.2 mm nozzle. I don't have this airbrush, but I cannot image the 3 Badgers suggested to have less overspray than the Ultra. The Krome may be similar, but the other 2 will have a lot more overspray.

It may not be the airbrush, but a matter of how you use it.

To answer many questions, The needle is not damaged, this occurred regardless od pressure and viscosity, changingthe angle helped some. I did have an opportunity to purchase an Iwata HP-CS and I am sure it will perform well.

BaBill212 suggested a Paasche H and said he had no problems. I had one stuck away in a drawer that I had cut my teeth on tears ago. I put the small neele set in, set the perssure to 30 psi and used a cup attatchment and was stunned at the fine lines and no overspray! Thank you all for the advice but especially BaBill212 for the reminder of the Paasche H! Problem solved!

It's amazing how different airbrushes seem to work for different people.

Personally...out of my Iwata HP-C Plus, HP-CS, Badger 105, Badger Renegade, Paasche H and H&S Evolution, the H&S is my first love. Strangely, I've had nothing but frustration with the Badger 105 Patriot, which a ton of people seem to really love.

You lucky swine. I currently have a 150 but want to get a 100LG. They are currently £115 in Hannants, works out at 172 AUD.

I would deffinatly say a badger.

Hehehe,  I actually bought it off Ken Badger - can't recall exact price, but was unbelievably cheap compared to the price of airbrushes here in LHSs.

I use it almost exclusively now - also have a Paasche H, but it's too troublesome to clean compared to the 100LG.

I can't rave about it enough
