Thanks Bill. Indeed! I have a Digitech lamp with magnifying glass. It would have been impossible to do without it. My eyes are beyond salvation!

It doesnt hurt to use some eye-enhancement either (head loup / magnifier).....   save your eyes as much as possible.

Thank you for your kind responses. I grabbed some Valllejo colors and also found some finer-tipped brushes with which to apply the paints and I am very happy with the results. Apologies for the delayed response but I do not always have access to a computer on account of working on remote sites.

If you have access to it I would recommend that you try some Vallejo paint if you have not already. It is a little thicker and works really well for hand painting.

Consider some freehand painting rather than masking. I use the tip of a toothpick to act as a very fine brush for very fine detail.  I shake the paint bottle, put the lid down on the bench open side up and pick up paint from the residue in the top with the tip of the toothpick. I sometimes touch the tip to a piece of cardboard first to reduce the paint further before touching it to surface to be painted.  You can draw tip a short distance to draw a short line, or make a line from a series of dots.  This method is particularly good at making very small, well controlled dots such as buttons and fasteners.  Good for eye pupils too.
