Siphon feed or gutless compressor?
Posted by DiscoStu on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 6:31 PM

Hey all.  I am having an odd issue with my airbrush: I noticed when trying to lay down a coat of Future the brush wasn't drawing the future through the siphon.  I did the standard drill: Disassemble, clean, check for blockages.  I was able to spray cleaner through it with no problems. Went back to the future and nothing.  Would not pull it through the tube.  I did some additional experimenting, it'll pull airbrush cleaner but no paints (Acrylic or enamel), clear coats or Future.  The gravity feed cup works fine, but I'd really like to find out why I'm not getting any pull from the siphon feed.  Could this be the result of a gutless compressor (I have a cheap, stop-gap compressor with no PSI control).

Can't imagine whatelse can it be except low compressor pressure and thick medium.

A canned air should have enough pressure for the Future until you can get a better compressor.
