Here is some background on the Badger Krome. Badger did something that Cyrus Tan asked for for modelering use. It include changing the cup shape and inside chrome plating to make it easier to clean. A smooth trigger like the SOTAR 20/20 etc.

The Krome will cost a little more than the Renegade Velocity (~40%).

Mid Tenn is the only source until November.  I expect it will be more widely available after that.  I think Badger is testing the waters for demand before going into full production; a smart move in my opinion.

I've just seen a review of the renegade krome, but am having difficulty sourcing it. I know Mid10 have it, but would like some other options. Dixieart & Chicago dont have them. Do you know anyone else online who stocks it?

 If you get one, pick up a 105 needle sometime and try it. You don't have to change anything else. The needle will extend a little further so if you try this be careful you don't drag it. I've found that you can pull an even finer line with this needle. But I think it's a very nice brush as is, just thought I'd try it with that needle and see what happened.

Chicago Airbrush Supply sells the Omni 4000 for $69.95 with free shipping in the US (lower 48). They also have a promotion now for free shipping on any order over $75 so if you need a hose or other accessories you can still get free shipping. Not to take anything away from Coast, they're great to deal with. What Don said about upgrades applies here too. You can always email either company and ask. I think that Badger has been using the tapered cup for a little while now but the trigger and needle seal upgrades are newer. I imagine that if you got one without the newer trigger and seal that Badger would upgrade it for you if you sent it to them.

I have one and a 105 and can back up what Don said, the 4000 can do a little finer work than the Patriot. With paint. Not exactly sure why but it will. Just a guess but I believe it has to do with the shape of the front of the regulator and that you can comfortably get a little closer to your work. That's with the "Reverse-A-Guard" aircap turned around. If you leave it facing forward it does seem to soften the edges a little. That can come in handy too. If you get one, pick up a 105 needle sometime and try it. You don't have to change anything else. Thanks for the review. I'm currently looking for aother airbrush to add to the collection, and I've had my eye on one that can do fine stuff. The Omni 4000 must just fill the bill. Do you know the cost?

Coast Airbrush has the 4000 at $65.95.  But be aware of a couple of things.  I don't know if you will get the upgrades, like the tapered cup and Teflon needle seal.  And, I did my doodle with water thin food color on a paper towel.  Paint on plastic is trickier.  If you just need something for fine stuff, you might want to consider the Velocity or Krome.
