Applying future w/o an airbrush?
Posted by JTBuckley on Sunday, August 28, 2011 12:41 AM

Hello all,

  I want to coat my entire model surface with future floor polish but, alas, I don't have an airbrush. I've used future in small patches before and have gotten excellent results. I'm curious as to whether I should coat the entire plane (A-10) in future using a brush? How thick should I put it on? Will it look wavy and unsettled because I applied it with a brush??

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I have only used Future full strength. It is usually self-leveling. If you’re concerned, try diluting it 50:50 (w/distilled water).

It shouldn't be any problem at all if youre concerned with things like brush strokes and irregular coverage. Future is known for it's self levelling  properties. You dont see people applying the stuff with an airbrush on their floors...Wink

I have used future extensively both with and without AB. The only real difference is the fact that brushing it on gives a heavier layer and thus more sheen

I have brush painted future. Use a wide, flat and soft brush and do not laod it full. Then you get a nive, smooth finish.

Here is a nice tutorial on future;

You don't need luck, just a little practice to get the hang of it. Try different brushes if you want. Try it on a piece of scrap plastic first. It is a very easy to acquire skill.
