It sounds like if I was airbrushing (which I still haven't gotten into yet; currently I do brush painting) it would be worth the money to go with testors.  But for brush cleaning it sounds like a generic brand mineral spirits or brush cleaner would be fine.  Does that pretty much sum it up?

I would agree. Buy some cheap mineral spirits.

This is the one that I read through and thought was pretty helpful.  If there are other threads that you know of off the top of your head, that would also fit, let me know.  I'll look around too but sometime the titles aren't as clear cut on subjects.

I was looking back through the threads looking for the title of the thread I mentioned and cannot find it.  Of course, at my age, "seems like last week" could have been six months ago :-)  Anyone remember the title of that thread, so Archibald will be able to find it easily?

We just finished an extensive thread on that subject.  Look back down the thread list a ways.  While there was some disagreement, I think overall it was an excellent discussion. We discussed a lot the costs of buying thinner from the paint mfgs.

thinners and brush cleaners

I'm just getting back into scale modeling, so I'm shopping around for brush cleaning liquids and was wondering if there is a difference between paint thinners, brush cleaners, airbrush cleaners and regular paint thinners that you find in the paint aisle of walmart/lowes/home depot.  If so, what is it and does it make a big difference?
