Thanks guys, that sounds like good advise.  Somehow I was hoping that the polish might bring out the gloss so I wouldn't have to respray, but I guess it's better to only redo once, right?  Do you think further mist coats are necessary or just go right into a wet coat?  Thanks again,  Michael B.

I would be hesitant to use a polishing compound as it may contain waxes/silicones/gloss enhancers which may reduce the adhesion of subsequent coats of paint. As Don suggested above, gentle wet sanding with a fine grit (800 or higher).

I'd wet sand rather than polish.  Polish residue is harder to clean up completely than sanding dust. If you are going to be painting the area again you do not need to go as fine as polish.

Okay, to continue from my first post under "What Happened", I think I will try to polish or wet sand out the frosted finish and respray.  Being relatively new to gloss finishes I was thinking of trying the Novus two part polish, and see if that takes me past the current frosted paint, then respray or going to progressively finer wet paper, then polish.  I am wondering if I can stray right after cleaning up the polish residue or it there is another step?  Thanks in advance.  Michael B.
