Is it just me or does opening a bottle of Testors enamel transport you back to being 10 years old?

Nope, 'cause when I was 10 the models were still balsa wood.  I was about 12 or 13 before the plastic kits became available.  However, at that age, the bottles were the same, and ran 10 cents a bottle.  Acrylics didn't come for a couple of decades.  Models were crude,  maybe a pilot in lieu of cockpit details.  No detail in LG bays,  engines were primitive.

Big thing with the plastics were the clear canopies.  Even without cockpit detail, an empty hole was better than a painted canopy area.
