I've only just started doing some artwork that involves airbrush. I'm using a heavy grade paper, sthat will take inks and watercolors without any problems. The one I'm working on now, and the practice pages I'm doing, I'm using model enamels. I plan to coat over the top with Future and sand and polish to a fine deep gloss. It should look pretty neat.

Once I'm done with that, I'm going to try some more straightforward illustration stuff. There is a kind of really thick drawing paper that I've liked to use, but I can't think what it's called right now as I'm out of it. I'll hit the Hobby Lobby this week and hunt that stuff down. It's like illustration board, but not as thick or expensive.

Chris,

I'm not real familiar with illustration work but I found out that Dru Blair paints on Crescent 9208 illustration board of different sizes.

If you need info on how to do it then you might want to check out the Airbrush Online Forums here: http://www.airbrushonline.com/index.php

that makes me want do some more art. my last finished piece of art was probably 14 years ago. i wonder how many hours he has in those peices? mike, or josh, whats the best surface to airbrush a piece of art on besides a T-shirt? im talking about something you could frame later if it turned out. those are cool pics. stirs up the long burried itch to do some artwork besides modelling. time, time, time, not enough to go around for all of these hobbies im developing in my older age. wish i could stop typing on this forum and invest that time into the build i have going. i need to get it off the table so i can make room for the israeli F-16 coming through the mail from squadron. i ordered some alclad as well for the next P-51D build. im excited. later guys.

Those are amazing. It must be nice to have talent!

He did his research to. Coincidently I'm building a P-40 right now and just got the Eagle decals for R.T. Smith's #47 P-40 so I spent quite a bit of time digging around on the internet for photos of it. The tiger jumping out of the "V" behind the cockpit was apparently on Smith's 47, and the logo right in front of the cockpit is a red angel, the logo of the 3rd squadron "Hell's Angels". Even the camo appears to be right. I may have to order that as a guide for my model!

Remember that photo that was posted on this forum a while back with the P-51and the mustang horse? I found that artist's web site and was amazed at what else he has painted. Check out the link here: http://www.auroraartcompany.com/warbirds.html
I love the P-40 picture he did too. [:0]Thumbs Up [tup]
