Iwata Neo
Posted by JohanT on Saturday, December 10, 2011 10:00 AM

Hi everyone,.
Not really sure if this question should have been asked in the tools section but anyway.
I broke the needle on my no-name airbrush today and need a replacement.

The Iwata Neo is very attractively priced -  I could get it over from the States to Gothenburg at 50% of what I would have to pay for the cheapest branded Air Brush here.
So what is your take on the Iwata Neo?
It would still be twice the price of the no-name double action...

Seasonal Greetings
Johan

keilau,
Thank you.
I did a search and found it inconclusive.
I read again and found advice.

The Neo is on its way from Chicago :)

Very Best Regards

Hi! Johan!

The Neo is actually a very good aitbrush! I have one and it performs comperably to my Iwata HP-CS, just not quite as good for really fine detail but far better that other lower end airbrushes. I think it out performs most anything under $100.00 if used properly.  Good build quality, great atomization of paint. Quick cleanup.

For good reviews look on the internet or you tube, not here. at this site Most insist that you need to spend a lot to get a good airbrush, That is not the case. The Neo is a really good chioce! Let us know what you think when it arrives!

The Neo was knocked by the professionals too, mostly due to quality control issues.

No, you do not have to spend a lot to get a good airbrush for modeling. But to imply that the $38 Neo has the quality of HP-CS is not very honest. I have both and I can tell the difference between the two. I am not even an experience airbrush user.

I have 3 made-in-China knockoffs and the Neo is the best among them. But the Neo nozzle and needle still bear all the trademark of the made-in-China knockoffs. See my comment at ARC.

i had two neo's. one worked well and the other worked like crap. you mentioned quality control. so, that shows that not all of them perform like they should.

tamiya 1/48 P-47D $25 + shipping

tamiya 1/48 mosquito $20+ shipping

hobby boss 1/48 F-105G. wings and fuselage cut from sprue. $40+ shipping.

The Neo has a 5 years warranty from Iwata. Did you send the crapy one into for repair or exhange? We will love to hear how the Iwata customer service compared to Badger's.

My Neo works well and is probably a good choice for many modelers. I had problem with a Badger Patriot 105 fine when first purchased. Badger repaired it and it came back with one of the best tight and smooth control I had. But I still don't like the working of its double cone needle and it does not get used. Pay a little more for the Badger Krome, it is every bit as good as the HP-CS or H&S Evolution.

Painting model can be fun to do. But seldomly is the cleaning or maintaining of the airbrush. A better airbbrush with good quality nozzle and needle makes a different. Just my personal opinion.

I presume that you gave the good Neo to your cousin since you have other airbrushes.
